Ngapa Tjukurrpa is a Central Desert Dreaming, a powerful evocation of the rariety of Water in the Desert.

Marshall Jangala Robertson was born in 1974 in Darwin, the closest hospital to Lajamanu, an Aboriginal community in semi-arid country on the edge of the Tanami Desert, halfway between Darwin and Alice Springs. Marshall grew up in Lajamanu with his seven sisters and attended the local Lajamanu school and later Yirara College, an Aboriginal boarding college in Alice Springs.

Marshall was born into a family of established artists—his Father, Jimmy Jampijinpa Robertson was a founding member of the Waniyaka Art Centre at Lajamanu and his Mother, Denise Napangardi Tasman, was also a well-known artist. Marshall’s family of artist’s shared their Dreamings with him from his earliest years and his remarkable talent is obvious in his interpretation of the Country of his Clan, it’s plants and topography.

Marshall, his wife Justinna Sims and their children live between their homeland of Yuendemu; Lajamanu and Adelaide. They have been working closely with one Rundle since 2017 and enjoy working on commissions for our clients.
